East Bali

East Bali is sometimes referred to as the ‘real Bali’ by foreign visitors, known for its lush white beaches, mighty volcanos, clear waters, great surf spots and holiest of temples.

Well known for its beach towns such as Candidasa, Padang Bai and Amed.  All hosting a  variety of fun activities. In Candidasa there is not much beach especially at high tide but there are many other small coves and bays to explore in this area and all visitors are encouraged to do so.

North east of Candidasa is Pasir Putih (White Sand Beach), one of East Bali’s well-kept secrets. It’s a five hundred metre long, isolated, beautiful, white sand beach fringed with coconut palms.

East Bali also hosts the highest mountain in Bali Mount Agung. There are many ways to see and explore the mountain, perfect place for the spectacular sunrise/sunset shots. The area around the water palace at Tirta Gangga offers great views of the mountain and the terraced rice paddies in the foothills. From here you can arrange treks of all types ranging from fairly gentle exploration of the foothills through to an ascent to the very top of the mountain.

Dramatically located on the slopes of Mount Agung is Besakih, considered by the Hindu Balinese to be their mother temple. Besakih is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Bali with tourists coming from all around the globe to marvel at its 20 separate temples.

Amed 14 km eastwards is becoming increasingly more popular, famous for its volcanic sand beaches, fishing and coral reefs excellent for free diving and snorkelling.

Padang Bai mostly known for its boat to Lombok. The 2 beaches (the main beach, Blue Lagoon to the east and Pantai Kacil to the west) are white sand and great for swimming / snorkeling. Perfect small no frills village to relax.
